Born Glasgow and played first for Strathclyde Juniors. Played senior for Mid Rhondda, befor and after the war, in team which won Welsh League and South Wales Cup. Joined Grimsby 1920 - 21 a half-back, but turned into a goal scoring centre.

Who were voted out of the League at the annual meeting in June, 1910, joined the Second Division in its first year (1892-3) and have been members uninteruptedly, with two seasons (1902-3 and 1903-4) in the First Division.

J.Bestall (inside right)
The brains behind every attack of last season's Second Division Champions. One of the league's smallest players, yet feared by all opponents for his brilliant and unorthodox "scheming". Appeared in every match last season. Joined Grimsby in 1926, from Rotherham.

J.Bestall
Inside-forward. Born Brighton, spotted by Grimsby when playing for Rotherham and transferred to the Town in 1926. Was largely instrumental in helping the "Fishermen" to promotion in season 1928-29, and was subsequently made Captain of the First League Eleven. Secured representative honours when selected to play for the English League v. Scottish League in 1932. Was capped as a full International v. Ireland in 1935.

J.Robson
Transferred from Grimsby Town to Huddersfield for a fee of nearly £8,000, Robson gained fame for his wonderful strength, pluck and ability to shoot and score from every angle. A most dangerous plyer, Robson had a good deal to do with Grimsby winning their way to the First Division. Though by no means a heavy man, he is most difficult to dislodge when he has the ball. Robson has been a great success with Hudersfield Town.

E.Glover
This dashing certre-forward is a six-footer and a great goal-getter. He got his big chance in the middle of the season 1931-32, when Coleman, the regular centre, left for Arsenal. He had a trial for Swansea, but wasn't a success with that club, and in December 1928 he was signed by grimsby Town. He was born at Swansea and used to work as a railway porter. He is a Welsh schoolboy International and has also represented his country in first class footer, once against Scotland and once against Ireland.
